Geological Disasters

Victoria is a unique geographic location as it is a self-contained island, (not accessible by road) with a higher risk than the Canadian norm for earthquakes, tsunamis, liquefaction and structural collapse. Victoria ranked as a high risk for ground motion effects - 5.0 and above - on the 2017 HRVA Risk Matrix. They also had a medium ranking on tsunamis.
